President Obama might be a "great politician," but when it comes to golf, the chief executive who has played more than 200 rounds since taking office is nothing but a "hack."
That is a polite way of describing what basketball legend and top celebrity golfer
Michael Jordan said about the president’s ability on the links.
"I've never said he wasn't a great politician," Jordan told radio host Ahmad Rashad on a video that went viral Thursday. "I'm just saying he's a ****** golfer."
He added that he's not interested in playing golf with Obama, but would rather play with Arnold Palmer.
Jordan has a 2 handicap, while Obama's may be as high as a 20.
Obama’s golf outings have become fodder for Republican critics and late-night comics. Judicial Watch reports that he, Vice President Joe Biden and their families have spent more than
$40 million in taxpayer money on trips, often involving golf, since Obama took office in 2009.
Obama drew fierce criticism when he went golfing in August right after denouncing the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria for beheading American James Foley.
All of that golfing seems to be of little benefit to his game, according to Butch Harmon, a top-ranked golf instructor.
"If I had the opportunity to give the president some help, I would advise him to make a better turn on his backswing, both with his hips and his shoulders…Right now there’s no wind-up, and then there’s a lot of un-windup…He tends to pull across and slap at shots…It doesn't look like he has a lot of power," Harmon told Golf Digest last year.
