President Barack Obama will have a live town hall focusing on gun control on CNN on Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Obama and CNN's Anderson Cooper will appear on the program titled "Guns in America" and take questions from a live audience, according to CNN.
Obama
plans to meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday to discuss the issue and is expected to announce an executive action to expand background checks on gun sales.
The town hall will be held on the fifth anniversary of the shooting of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords during a public appearance in which six people were killed and 13 wounded.
