Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, claimed a tweet directed at him by a Texas state legislator following the latest Democratic presidential debate was a death threat.
State Rep. Briscoe Cain, a Republican, had responded to a tweet from O'Rourke echoing the former congressman's comments during the Thursday night debate. O'Rourke, discussing stricter gun laws, said: "Hell yes, we're gonna take your AR-15."
Cain, referring to O'Rourke's legal name, wrote: "My AR is ready for you, Robert Francis."
According to The Dallas Morning News, Twitter took Cain's tweet down. However, it was still captured in a screenshot and shown on O'Rourke's account.
And O'Rourke responded to Cain by saying: "This is a death threat, Representative. Clearly, you shouldn't own an AR-15 — and neither should anyone else."
Cain replied: "You're a child Robert Francis."
