Sarah Palin, Jimmy Fallon Poke Fun at Putin

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night for a "Tonight Show" skit about Russian President Vladimir Putin's takeover of Ukraine's Crimea peninsula.

Fallon appeared dressed as Putin in split screen with Palin as herself. Putin is hanging up from talking to President Barack Obama as the skit opens. He then dials up Palin.

"I heard that back in 2008 you predicted I that would invade Ukraine. Is this true?" Fallon's Putin asks.

"You betcha, Vlad," Palin responds.

Story continues below video.

Palin was ridiculed when she was running for vice president with Sen. John McCain in 2008 for saying that Putin would invade Ukraine if then-Sen. Barack Obama were elected president. She was quick to remind people of her prediction when Putin sent troops into Crimea in late February.

"Since you are so great at guessing my next move, who do you think I should invade next?" Putin asks in the skit. "I'm thinking Finland, Sweden. I hear Jamaica is nice this time of year."

"My advice to you is, you get those troops out of Ukraine right now," Palin responds.

When Fallon's Putin suggests he might invade Alaska since it is at Russia's back door, Palin warns, "You may be able to take down a bear, but you're no match for a mama grizzly."

The skit also had fun with Palin's penchant for giving her children unusual names. When Putin said he could have used her predictive powers in his office March Madness pool, he followed up by asking about Palin's bracket.

"Oh, thanks for asking. Bracket's good," she said. "You know he's going to be 6 this month."

The two found something in common: Neither likes Obama.

"I come from strong genes. President Obama, he comes from mom jeans," Putin said.

When they noted they heard someone breathing on the line, Putin suggested it might be the National Security Agency, which has been criticized for monitoring Americans' and world leaders' phone calls and emails.

At that point, an actor playing Obama is seen quickly hanging up a phone he had been listening in on.
