Legendary singer Pat Boone told
Newsmax TV on Thursday that he was disappointed by Donald Trump's opposition to the North Carolina law on transgender use of bathrooms — calling the controversy "a sign of how far our society has fallen and has lost its way."
"It is such a confusion — and for us to make accommodations for this kind of thing is not only ludicrous, it's very upsetting," Boone, 81, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "It's a sign of how far our society has fallen into and has lost its way.
"Anything goes, right or wrong," he said.

Trump, the front-runner in the Republican presidential campaign,
said earlier Thursday that North Carolina should not have passed the law last month directing transgender people to use bathrooms that match the gender on their birth certificates.
"People … use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate," Trump told NBC's "Today" at a town hall meeting. "There has been so little trouble.
"Leave it the way it is," he said.
Then, "Today" co-host Matt Lauer followed up: "If Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and wanted to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?”
"That is correct," Trump responded.
In his Malzberg interview, Boone also related his views to Jenner, whom he referred to as "Bruce."
"I knew Bruce a long time ago — and, of course, he is still Bruce, by the way.
"It's not because I don't empathize," Boone added. "I do empathize greatly with people with an identity confusion, but he can look down and see what he is and he knows what's on his birth certificate — and he should live with that.
"I think men in the men's restroom would be a lot less worried about [Jenner] coming into their restroom in a dress than women would be with other transgenders who are male but say 'no they're female' and they come in.
"They can say whether they are or whether they're not," he said. "In many cases, they aren't."

"Legacy," featuring 17 gospel songs that the singer composed himself.
He also ripped the "Saturday Night Live" parody of the faith-based film "God's Not Dead 2," — saying the performers treated God with "diabolical sacrilege."
"They would never mention Allah or Muhammad in any kind of derogatory way, joking or otherwise, or they'd be immediately going into a witness protection program," he told Malzberg. "They know they can do it to Christians.
"Christians don't kill people — and we have no recourse really but to object, and they don't care about that.
"They've given up caring about what Christians think a lot time ago," Boone added. "In fact, we're very good joke material."
