Federal officials picked up conversations between former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and Russian individuals about the 2016 campaign, CBS News reported Tuesday.
The new information comes a day after CNN revealed Manafort was wiretapped by U.S. investigators under secret court orders before and after the 2016 election.
According to CBS News, the intercepts picked up conversations between Manafort and Russian individuals about the campaign. The intercepts potentially include conversations between Manafort and President Donald Trump, CBS News reported.
It's unclear what information was discussed during those conversations or what ties the Russian individuals had to Trump or the Russian government.
The recordings are now part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russia's involvement in the election.
In a statement, a spokesman for Manafort called on the Department of Justice to "release any intercepts involving [Manafort] and any non-Americans," claiming that there is "nothing there."
