Sen. Bernie Sanders is proving to be a "gift to the Republican Party" with his presidential campaign, as his comments and actions will lead to the GOP regaining control of the House, Sen. David Perdue said Monday.

"Look, we have the greatest contrast that America has ever had I think between two potential presidents here," the Georgia Republican said about Sanders, I-Vt., on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "If you look at what he’s promising, it’s the same thing that the Soviets did in Russia, the Germans did in ’33, the Cubans did in ’59 and even Venezuela today. It’s a lie."

Sanders also is promising "all of this free stuff," said Perdue, "but the very people who he's promising (it) to will be the ultimate payers."

Perdue's comments come after Sanders defended, in part, the actions of late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, telling CBS' "60 Minutes" that it is "unfair to simply say everything is bad" with how he'd run the country.

Also over the weekend, Sanders revealed a plan to prove free childcare for children up to age 3 and pre-K classes for children 3 and up, reports Politico.

But Perdue noted that Sanders says he'll pay for his programs through plans to "just tax the rich a little more," just like he has been saying about the Green New Deal and other items on his agenda.

"Just the Green New Deal would take the entire earned income of America, everybody, including these college students who are going to graduate and get jobs," said Perdue.
