Pew Poll: Fake News Bigger Problem Than Terrorism

Americans believe made-up news is a bigger problem than violent crime, racism, illegal immigration, and terrorism, a new Pew Research Center survey reveals.

Here are the results when people were asked about the biggest problem facing the U.S. today:

  • 70% said drug addiction.
  • 67% – healthcare costs.
  • 52% – U.S. political system.
  • 51% – gap between the rich and poor.
  • 50% – made-up news.
  • 49% – violent crime.
  • 46% – climate change.
  • 40% – racism.
  • 38% – illegal immigration.
  • 34% – terrorism.
  • 26% – sexism.

The poll, conducted Feb. 19-March 4, surveyed 6,127 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 1.6 percentage points.
