Charges have been dropped against adult film star Stormy Daniels, who is locked in a court battle with President Donald Trump, her lawyer said Thursday following her arrest in Ohio for allegedly "fondling" patrons at a strip club.

"I am pleased to report that the charges against my client @StormyDaniels have been dismissed in their entirety," Michael Avenatti announced on Twitter.

He thanked prosecutors and posted photographs of court documents showing that the state of Ohio had moved to dismiss the case because it did "not have probable cause to proceed on any of the three charges set forth in the complaints."

Daniels, who is locked in a court battle with the US president over an alleged tryst in 2006, was arrested late Wednesday in what her lawyer condemned as a "politically motivated" setup.

Daniels, 39, was apprehended without incident during her performance at the Sirens club in Columbus, Ohio after officers accused her of knowingly touching club patrons "in a specified anatomical area."
