Rasmussen Poll: Nevada GOP Leads Senate, Governor Races

Just under half — 48% — of likely voters in Nevada say they would cast their ballots for former state Attorney General Republican Adam Laxalt in the race for the U.S. Senate, compared to 43% who say they would vote to re-elect Democrat Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports and the Capitol Resource Institute.

In the race for the state's governor, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo leads Democrat Gov. Steve Sisolak 47% to 42%.

Here are some of the highlights from the poll results, released on Tuesday:

  • 80% of Republicans say they would vote for Laxalt, and 81% of Democrats would vote for Cortez Masto.
  • 48% of white voters say they favor Laxalt, while 43% say they favor Cortez Masto.
  • 32% of Black voters say they favor Laxalt, compared to 58% who say they favor Cortez Masto.
  • 49% of Hispanic voters say they favor Laxalt, while 37% back Cortez Masto.
  • 77% of Republicans say they would vote for Lombardo in the governor's race, and 76% of Democrats say they would cast their ballot for Sisolak.
  • 43% approve of the job Sisolak is doing as governor, compared to 54% who disapprove.
  • 39% of likely Nevada voters approve of the job Joe Biden is doing as president, while 58% disapprove.

The poll, conducted Oct. 13-17, surveyed 707 likely voters in Nevada. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
