President Donald Trump and the news media have both done more to divide the country than unite it, voters said in a new poll from Politico and Morning Consult released Thursday.
Most voters, 56 percent, say Trump has done more to divide the country, while 30 percent said he has done more to unite it; 64 percent said that the media has done more to divide the country, and only 17 percent said that the media has done more to unite it.
Most Democrats, 88 percent, and independents, 54 percent, said Trump has done more to divide the country, and most Republicans, 55 percent, said he has done more to unite it. The news media was less favored by both parties and independents. Democrats were the most favorable, with 28 percent saying that the news media has done more to unite the U.S., while only nine percent of Republicans and 14 percent of independents said the same.
The poll surveyed 2,543 registered voters during the week of Oct., 25-30 and has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
