Fifty-six percent of voters do not support President Donald Trump’s proposed wall along the southern border, compared to 44 percent who do, a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll reveals.

The poll results, released to The Hill, breakdown like this:

  • 58 percent said Trump should withdraw his demand for border funding, compared to 42 percent who said he “should not give in.”
  • 48 percent said border security is a “serious problem,” 38 percent say it is a “minor problem” and 14 percent said it is “not even a small priority.”
  • 64 percent say the current partial government shutdown is symbolic, compared to 36 percent who say it is a “real shutdown” that will impact their lives.
  • 51 percent say Trump and Democratic lawmakers should compromise on a $2.5 billion barrier funding package, while 49 percent say they should not.

The poll, conducted Dec. 24-26, surveyed 1,407 registered voters. A margin of error for the survey was not provided.
