RNC's Priebus: Dem Strategy to Spread 'False Messages' on GOP Foes

The Democratic strategy to win in November's midterm elections is to spread "false messages" about GOP candidates, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus told "Fox & Friends."

Priebus said the strategy is based on a study by NextGen Climate, a group founded by billionaire Democratic supporter Tom Steyer, which found "Republican enthusiasm is very high in the midterm, and their (Democrats') enthusiasm is very low."

"They did a study, full-blown data study, and they actually spelled out in the memo that you can read that their strategy is to go after Republicans and degrade and depress the Republican turnout by spreading false messages about Republicans," Priebus said Tuesday.

It was "amazing" that Democrats wanted to go after "Republicans in a strategic way to depress and degrade Republican turnout," Priebus said, adding voters should be on the lookout for those messages from Democrats, who he called "hypocrites from the beginning to the end."

An ad implying Republicans were responsible for Ebola showed "desperation" on the part of Democrats, Priebus said, because it implied GOP lawmakers promoted cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

"It is an earned media-type hit, and, obviously, they're walking this dangerous path of trying to point out blame on Ebola," Priebus said.

Priebus credited President Barack Obama's record with causing Democrats to distract from issues facing the country, and instead attack Republicans.

"If you look at the president's record on anything, as you know, from ISIS, to the Secret Service, to the CDC, to Syria, to the border, I mean, you name it. For whatever reason, every single thing the administration, as well as these Democrats running for office, touches — it's not turning to gold, I can tell you that. It's turning to something else," he said.
