Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are viewed negatively by more than half of Britons according to a new poll about the royal family from YouGov.
Harry and Meghan, who recently moved to North America after stepping down from their royal duties, are set to attend Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee this week. Ahead of the celebration, YouGov conducted a poll to measure the favorability of the various members of the royal family among the British public.
The results show that while the Queen's favorability rating has remained steady, with about 69% approving as of May, Harry and Meghan's have dropped dramatically, with 58% viewing Harry negatively and 63% viewing Meghan negatively.
YouGov's data from previous polls show that Harry and Meghan's favorability started to drop significantly around the time of their announcement that they would step down as working royals. The poll also found that younger Britons tended to be more positive towards Harry and Meghan, while older Britons were almost universally negative towards the two.
While Harry and Meghan's scores are among the lowest for members of the royal family, they remain more well-liked than Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II, who is the least-liked member of the royal family with 85% of Britons viewing him negatively and only 5% viewing him positively.
Andrew, who stepped down from royal duties in 2019 and had his honorary military titles and patronages stripped last January following allegations of sexual assault, is also expected to attend the gathering on June 3.
YouGov polled 1,692 adults in Great Britain from May 18-19, 2022.
