GOP Sen. Rand Paul says his injuries from an attack last Friday by a neighbor outside Paul's Kentucky home are more extensive than initially reported.
Paul's neighbor, Rene Boucher, has been accused of assaulting the senator while he was mowing his lawn — an incident that was initially reported to have resulted in Paul suffering from five cracked ribs and a bruised lung.
The senator tweeted:
A pleural effusion indicates excess fluid building up in the space between the layers of thin membrane lining the surface of the lungs and the inside of the chest wall outside the lungs.
Paul is recovering from his injuries at home.
