Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Monday that he “would never attend” the White House Correspondents' Dinner after this year’s host, comedian Trevor Noah, mocked the governor on Saturday.

Although Noah, the host of Comedy Central’s “Daily Show,” said that DeSantis was one of the “big names” there Saturday, DeSantis said on Monday that he did not attend the dinner despite being listed in the event’s program as being in attendance.

"I would never attend that. I have no interest in that," he said in response to a reporter’s question about Noah's remarks, according to Business Insider. "I did not watch it. I don't care what they do."

DeSantis accused “them” of lying about his attendance, saying that his office rejected an invitation and adding, "The idea that I would have ever gone is false.

"I think it just shows you why that cabal of people in D.C., New York, are so reviled by so many Americans. I think it's a reputation that's been well deserved."

During his remarks on Saturday, Noah said that he was surprised DeSantis was there since he’s “so busy trying to outmaneuver [former President Donald] Trump for 2024.”

Noah also took aim at Florida’s rejection of a record number of math textbooks, saying, "Because, you see, Trump said he won the election, but everyone was just able to look at the numbers and see that he was wrong. That's why Ron DeSantis is one step ahead. First, you ban the math textbooks, then nobody knows how to count the votes. Boom, my man."
