The mysterious attacks that produced to brain injuries in U.S. diplomatic personnel in Cuba and China is likely to have been launched by Russia, NBC News reports.
The news organization, citing three unnamed U.S. officials and two other people "briefed on the investigation," said Tuesday that the evidence pointing to Russia as the prime suspect is strong, but still insufficient to formally accuse Moscow.
An extensive investigation involving the CIA and FBI found evidence of Russian involvement in communications intercepts, the sources said.
