President Donald Trump's chief strategist Steve Bannon actually submitted his resignation on August. 7, according to The New York Times.
The newspaper's White House correspondent Maggie Haberman tweeted on Friday:
In Haberman's story for The Times, she reported a person close to Bannon insisted the departure was his own idea.
After submitting his letter of resignation on Aug. 7, his departure was delayed due to the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, according to the report.
