Vice President Mike Pence says Mexico is sending 6,000 national guards to the southern border as part of its immigration deal with U.S.
Additionally, Mexico has agreed to take back all Central American immigrants awaiting asylum in the United States.
"Mexico has done more to address the crisis on our southern border than Congress has and it is time for Congress to step up," Pence told Bret Baier on "Special Report" on Monday.
"These are things Mexico had never agreed to do before. They're doing them now, and it is all the result of President Trump's strong and decisive leadership, but the truth of the matter is we need Congress now to step up."
Trump announced a deal this weekend on border security and illegal immigration that allowed Mexico to avoid U.S. tariffs.
