There's no such thing as a "nice" mainstream media reporter when it comes to Republicans, warns GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz.
In an interview with Glenn Beck on his Blaze TV show, the fiery Texas lawmaker recounted the story of a young staffer who called an unnamed journalist "really, really nice."
"I actually stopped him and I said, 'You know what? No, she’s not,'" he said on "The Glenn Beck Program."
"She wants to destroy you. Nothing would make her happier than to take your life and fillet you on the front pages. And don’t think for a minute that because she smiles and is friendly to you, that it’s anything else."

Seemingly taken aback, Beck asks "Isn’t that pretty cynical? I mean, I agree with you 100 percent, but it’s a little cynical."
But Cruz defended his response, noting "when the sheep are walking among coyotes, it pays to be cynical."
"You see Republicans when they’re interviewed by left-wing reporters, and they get afraid," Cruz said. "They want them to like them. They are not going to like us. They hate us."
Cruz also decried the mainstream media effort to find candidates "more Hispanic" than Cruz, "because there’s nothing that makes you Hispanic like embracing the left-wing amnesty agenda," he tells Beck.
"And look, that’s fine, the media is who they are," Cruz said. "What we need to do when we deal with the media is speak the truth, but do it with a smile. Margaret Thatcher said, 'First you win the argument, then you win the vote.' The last several elections, we haven’t won the argument. We haven’t even made the argument."
Cruz has weathered other clashes with members of the media, including one
with Jorge Ramos in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling that sanctioned same-sex marriages across the nation.
Yet he also sparred with Fox News' host Megyn Kelly over the issue,
