Sen. Bernie Sanders looks "tired crazy" and former Vice President Joe Biden appears "exhausted," President Donald Trump says in an interview airing Thursday night on Spanish-language network Telemundo.
He brought both up after NBC News and Telemundo anchor Jose Diaz-Balart asked him who he'd prefer to run against in the 2020 general election.
"Bernie, Bernie looks like he's had it," Trump said. "Bernie looks crazy, but he always did. But he looks like a tired crazy right now."
Biden, meanwhile, "looks like he's just exhausted," said Trump, and he doesn't understand why.
"I don't know what happened to him but he is exhausted and he doesn't do any work, he's not working," Trump said. "One thing I found out about this job, to do it right, and I've done it right — you have to work hard."
Trump, at 72, is younger than Sanders, 77, and Biden, 76, and has often questioned their stamina.
The Telemundo appearance marks the president's first sit-down interview with a Spanish-language television network. It will appear on Noticias Telemundo in full Thursday night at 11 p.m. According to Telemundo, the interview is a "new precedent" for Trump, as he spoke with a journalist serving the Latino audience.
While running for office in 2015, Trump cut short a question from Diaz-Balart and told him he was "finished." He also accused the Hispanic journalist of "typical" press "misinterpretation" of comments Trump had made about Mexicans.
