Despite mainstream media narratives and polls suggesting Herschel Walker is struggling against incumbent Sen. Rafael Warnock, D-Ga., The Trafalgar Group's latest poll has the former Georgia Bulldogs football star leading the midterm race.
Five different polls of this race for one of Georgia's Senate seats had Warnock leading in July, including a pair of Fox News polls, but two polls this week both showed former President Donald Trump's endorsed candidate Walker in the lead.
Trafalgar, one of the most accurate pollsters since 2016, has Walker leading by about 1 point.
- Walker 47.5%.
- Warnock 46.7%.
- Libertarian Chase Oliver 2.9%.
- Undecided 2.9%.
Georgia GOP Gov. Brian Kemp (50.6%) has 6.4-point lead on Democrat firebrand Stacey Abrams (44.2%) in the gubernatorial race.
The Emerson College poll this week has Kemp as a 4-point leader, but Walker as a 2-point leader.
Georgia has become one of the truest battleground states in the country. Pew Research Center shows adults in the state are 41% Republican, 41% Democrat, and 18% third party or independent.
The Trafalgar Group surveyed 1,079 likely general election voters in the state Aug. 24-27. The poll results have a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points.
