President Donald Trump Wednesday tweeted a slam at his former lawyer Michael Cohen, accusing him of lying "to reduce his prison time."

"Michael Cohen was one of many lawyers who represented me (unfortunately)," the president, who is in Hanoi, Vietnam for his second summit with North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un, said in a post on Twitter.

"He had other clients also. He was just disbarred by the State Supreme Court for lying & fraud. He did bad things unrelated to Trump. He is lying in order to reduce his prison time. Using Crooked’s lawyer!"

The "Crooked" reference is one Trump has often used to describe his challenger in the 2016 presidential race, Hillary Clinton. Cohen is represented by Lanny Davis, who served as special counsel in President Bill Clinton's White House.

On Tuesday, Manhattan's Appellate Division, First Department and the Attorney Grievance Committee announced that Cohen, who has been convicted of lying under oath, had been disbarred in New York.

Cohen testified behind closed doors on Tuesday to the Senate Intelligence Committee and will testify in private to the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday. In testimony to the Oversight Committee, to be conducted publicly, Cohen reportedly is planning to brand the president as a racist, a con man, and a cheat, according his prepared opening statement.

"I'm going to let the American people decide exactly who is telling the truth," Cohen said Tuesday.
