The Turnberry golf resort owned by the Trump Organization lost more than $4 million in 2017, a significant decrease in losses from the previous year.

The Washington Post cited a Trump Organization report made public this week that outlined Turnberry's profit and losses in 2017. The numbers show Turnberry lost $4.4 million, far less than the $23 million loss the previous year.

The Trump Organization purchased Turnberry in 2014 for more than $60 million and then invested around $200 million in the resort.

The course has a storied history in golf and first opened in 1906. The British Open Championship has been played there four times.

Trump stopped at Turnberry over the summer before his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.
