Russia's President Vladimir Putin is "the most dangerous guy on the planet" — his threat amplified by renewed missile threats to America, former Chief of U.S. Naval Operations Adm. Mike Mullen said Monday.
In an interview on Fox Business' "Countdown to the Closing Bell," Mullen said the United States must remain vigilant — and wary — about Putin's strategic nuclear weapons in Europe, which he said raises the risk for everyone of using such weaponry.
"I think President Putin is the most dangerous guy on the planet," he said, referring to Putin's chilling warning Russia's new missiles would be pointed toward America if the U.S. deployed its missiles in Europe.
"Those who spend a lot of time on the nuclear issue moved the doomsday clock back in the wrong direction, closer to 12:00 a.m. when for years it has been moving away," Mullen added.
"I think Putin is deadly serious about what he's proposing to do."
Mullen also waved a warning flag about the United States' national debt, saying "the massive and expanding debt is the most significant threat to our national security."
Debt hit a new milestone, topping $22 trillion for the first time Feb. 12, an increase of $2.06 trillion since President Donald Trump took office.
