Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., wants to stop congressional lawmakers from being denied entry to migrant detention facilities operated by federal agencies or by private contractors working on behalf of those agencies, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting.

A bill by Wasserman Schultz, put forth on Monday., will permit congressional lawmakers to visit these facilities and do so without notice, according to the newspaper.

The bill comes after Wasserman Schultz was denied entry into a migrant detention center in South Florida.

“If (detention facilities) don’t give us any opportunities to see what is happening in real time, we can’t get a true picture of what is going on in there,” she said.

"This is an administration that has thumbed its nose at the law.

“They have repeatedly demonstrated that they have something to hide.”

"We should have the right to conduct oversight anytime we feel the need to."
