Armstrong Williams: Terror-Stricken Europe the 'New Israel'

Europe has become the "new Israel" for the level of danger it faces from terror attacks, says Armstrong Williams, a political commentator and business manager for former presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson.

"The European Union experiment has failed. It's one of the reasons why the United Kingdom has not joined the European Union experiment. They cannot coordinate the security, to protect innocent citizens," Williams said Monday to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime" on Newsmax TV.

"It's one thing to talk about security lapses, but to allow someone to just walk up to an American Airlines ticket counter and just detonate these bombs when you've been warned by the counterterrorism community from the U.S. to Great Britain to Paris and you just assume nothing is going to happen.

"The fact is many Europeans when you talk to them on the street, they have to face reality that this is what Europe is becoming. Europe is the new Israel and while the Israelis can handle it well because of the proximity and the smallness of their country, it's very different in Europe."

Last week, 31 people were killed and 270 injured when two Islamic State-affiliated brothers set off bombs at an airport and train station in Brussels, Belgium. The attack came three months after 129 died in a series of coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris.

"They're not prepared for these kind of bus attacks or restaurant attacks or theater attacks or airport attacks or train attacks. The impact it's having on tourism, which is very crucial to the economy all across Europe," Armstrong said.

He told Hayworth that European nations must reestablish their sense of sovereignty.

"They have no choice. We already see these right-wing groups are gaining power in places like Brussels, in places like Germany. They're not going to sit around and see their women raped, disrespected," Williams said.

"They're not going to see innocent people killed for no reason at all. They trust their governments to protect them and they've come to the realization that they are not sure whether they can protect them or not."
