Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, told Newsmax TV on Wednesday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., "is finally getting on board" with investigating the Capitol riot after the speaker called for a "9/11-type commission."
The congresswoman noted on "John Bachman Now" that "very soon after it happened, I was very supportive of" a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 riot.
"I want to get down to the bottom" and "find out what happened that day," she added.
"I know there's a lot of rumors, there's a lot of innuendo about what happened," Van Duyne continued. "I'm interested, and very similar to the way that I spoke about a lot of the violence in violent protests in mob action that you saw across the country over the summer. I want to get down to making sure that people who feel like they can create violence and take the voice of tens of thousands of people who came to D.C. to have a productive protest — I want to get down to the bottom of it and find out what happened."
She added later, "We should all want to find out what happened. This shouldn't be political at all. There should be no partisanship in this at all. This should be investigated by law enforcement to find out where the weaknesses have happened, why they happened, and how to be able to prevent them from happening in the future."
