McCaughey: AHCA Will Boost Economy, Stimulate Job Growth

The American Health Care Act is a "good bill" that will help everyone in the United States because of tax cuts and erasing the employer mandate, health policy expert Betsy McCaughey told Newsmax TV.

During an appearance on "Newsmax Prime," McCaughey told host Miranda Khan the House GOP's Obamacare replacement has a lot of good qualities.

"This bill eliminates the employer mandate, which has crippled hiring in this country," McCaughey said. "Just repealing the employer mandate is going to provide relief for about 200 million Americans, some of them who have lost their hours on the job, some of them have lost their on-the-job coverage, many of them have lost wage increases or the opportunity for a better job because of the costly employer mandate."

McCaughey, a former lieutenant governor of New York, said the "trillion-dollar tax cut in this new bill" will help the economy, which ultimately helps everyday Americans.

The healthcare bill, which House Republicans made public Monday, will help stimulate job creation, McCaughey added.

"This bill should be passed because it's going to be a big job booster, it's going to be a tremendous tax cut for Americans, and it's going to relieve millions of Americans of the employer mandate and that onerous, unfair individual mandate," she said.
