A stunt by conservative activist
James O’Keefe in which he crossed the U.S. border from Mexico dressed as Osama bin Laden was an "untruthful" skit that "would be good for "Saturday Night Live," former Border Patrol agent Hipolito Acosta said on
Newsmax TV Tuesday, where he appeared with James O’Keefe, the "citizen journalist" who put together the border-crossing video.
Acosta said it’s apparent that the Border Patrol knew that the Hudspeth County (Texas) Sheriff’s Office, which shares 98 miles of border with Mexico, had "escorted" O’Keefe into the area and that he presented no threat.

"It would've been good if you made a report by going down to Chihuahua City and coming up along the Mexican side and had made entry," Acosta said. "That would've been a truthful report and actually, I'm giving you a personal invitation to go with me, and we can come up from Chihuahua City or even better yet, if we want to expose the vulnerabilities we need to go to ground zero of human smuggling, which is Teculutan, Guatemala, and we can start from there because I can guarantee you, Mr. O'Keefe you wouldn't make it from Chihuahua city to the border."
O’Keefe acknowledged on "America’s Forum" that sheriff’s deputies "were in the area" though in the video posted on his Project Veritas website O’Keefe says the Border Patrol "was nowhere in sight," warning Americans that "even Osama bin Laden could cross."

He didn’t back down from his assertion Tuesday with host J.D. Hayworth.
"Our video shows that the border is so insecure that I can cross the Rio Grande wearing camouflage, a turban, mask and Osama bin Laden camouflage, no Border Patrol agents were ever anywhere around me," he said. "This is an outrage. Border security is now national security, and I hope that the president and the Congress do something to fix the problem."
