College campuses have become "the least tolerant places in the world," Donald Trump Jr. told Newsmax TV on Thursday after he was heckled off the stage at UCLA over the weekend.
"They're not training kids to be tolerant of anything other than their one view taught by a bunch of leftist academics and socialists," Trump, the eldest son of President Donald Trump told "America Talks Live" host John Cardillo.
"It's getting truly scary — and we've got to push back."
Trump Jr. and Trump campaign senior adviser Kimberly Guilfoyle were on campus to discuss his new book, "Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us," when conservative students booed loudly after learning a question-and-answer session had been canceled.
Trump Jr. has long ridiculed American universities for reigning in free speech and distorting traditional values, telling the University of North Texas in October 2017 that "a lot of other universities don't teach civility or intellectual openness anymore."
He extended the thought in his Cardillo interview, saying that was a reason why he wrote the book.
"Sometimes, you gotta go long form and really explain the rationale, explain the thoughts," he said. "Our voice box, the vacuum in which we live, is so narrow, people have never even thought outside of those boxes.
"It's why people in the media, they couldn't imagine" Americans voting for his father in 2016, Trump Jr. said.
"Everyone's been trapped in their own bubbles for far too long," he added. "I think it's important to break out of that."
