President Barack Obama's declaration that torture was used on terrorists by the George W. Bush administration is not likely to lead to prosecutions, former CIA covert agent Mike Baker says.
"There’s certainly members of his administration that would love to do that, but I don’t believe that they would — I don’t believe that he would allow that to happen,'' Baker said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"It was a government program, it was blessed by those in the previous administration, in the Department of Justice and others.
"If anybody took the time and were objective about looking at the DOJ memos … they would realize what a deliberative and painstaking process it was just to do anything with the enhanced interrogation programs.''
Baker, host of the Travel Channel's "America Declassified,'' said there were "insane numbers'' of messages being exchanged about what could and couldn't be done.
