Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that "Congress should be working for the American people" to help them recover from the coronavirus-related shutdowns and from widespread unrest.
Taylor Greene told "American Agenda" on Tuesday afternoon: "I can tell you, everyone here in Washington, D.C., is very serious about security, especially after what happened in the Capitol," last week, when President Donald Trump's supporters violently stormed the building when Congress was in session.
She added, "and of course, my family is safe and I'm safe, and we're also proud gun owners. And we will always defend ourselves. I'm very grateful to local law enforcement where I live and in my community, so as always, I back the blue and 100% thankful for them and the Capitol Police and the National Guard here, so I can't speak on others."
The congresswoman said, "I want to speak on behalf of the American people because the American people have been the one that have endured violence. Riots, looting, burning, destruction of their businesses, destruction of their jobs with COVID shutdowns, closed churches, closed schools, and their entire lives just battered and ruined this whole year. I think Congress should be working for the American people and working to do our job to make sure that they can live their lives fully as they're guaranteed the freedom to do so by the Constitution."
