FreedomWorks' Borelli: Rand Paul is MVP of CPAC

Who will end up being the Most Valuable Player at this week's Conservative Political Action Conference?

According to Dr. Tom Borelli, a senior fellow with the conservative and libertarian think-tank FreedomWorks, it's Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, hands down.

"My guess would be Rand Paul will win the straw poll," Borelli told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"The reason being that he's got a good libertarian streak to him, a good background, and a lot of young people attend CPAC — and they are very strong libertarian orientation as well."

Story continues below video.

Borelli called CPAC "the picture of the big Republican tent."

"[It's] everybody from [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell, [New Jersey Gov. Chris] Christie, and then you have Rand Paul and [Sen.] Ted Cruz [of Kentucky]," he said.

"So everyone's there. It's really there to rally the base, to get people excited for what we really need to do is really take over Congress, get the presidency again, and then move the country back in the right direction."
