Dick Morris on Ted Cruz: 'Very Dignified' Exit

Political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV Tuesday he was "surprised" that Ted Cruz quit the Republican race after his crushing defeat in the Indiana primary.

"It was very dignified and surprising that Cruz did that, but I'm glad that he did," he told host Dennis Michael Lynch on "America Votes: 2016" in an interview.

"You have the ultimate conservative in Ted Cruz. The Republican Party, including many of the conservatives, rejected that and said that way lies gridlock.

"We want somebody who's going to make this country work and do the deals that have to be done to make it so," Morris added. "Very much the kind of mood that gripped the country in 1952 when they elected Eisenhower."
