Dick Morris: Dems 'Committing Suicide' on ISIS, Refugees

Democrats are killing their own chances of winning the White House by being against the majority of the public on fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) and bringing in Syrian refugees, political analyst Dick Morris tells Newsmax TV.

Recent polls have shown a growing number of Americans want to fight ISIS  on the ground where it controls territory in Syria and Iraq, and they want to stop the inflow of Syrian refugees, fearing ISIS members could be embedded with them.

"The Democratic Party is in the process of committing suicide because by putting themselves on the other side of the boots on the ground against ISIS and the Syrian refugees coming into the United States, by putting them against the first and for the second, they're really leaving the American people behind," Morris said Monday on "Newsmax Prime."

"It's going to recreate really what we had in 1972 when [Democratic nominee George] McGovern was way, way to the left of the American people," he said. "The Democrats are about to fall off a cliff on this one."

Earlier on "Newsmax Now," Morris said Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton's popularity has suffered over her private email server.

"Everybody assumes that because she's not in handcuffs and on her way in a perp walk that she's gotten away with everything, but she hasn't," he said. "The cost in public opinion as trustworthy or honest on Hillary has been enormous."

Clinton needs to distance herself more from President Barack Obama, but can't because she fears Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders will gain on her.

As for Republicans, Morris told "Newsmax Prime" that front-runner Donald Trump is holding his lead because of his views on the economy and national security.

Ben Carson's support among evangelicals is slipping, he said, because they do not feel that he's strong enough to stand up to ISIS. Most of his defectors are going to Sen. Ted Cruz, he said.

And ISIS will ensure present trends continue, Morris said.

"These guys aren't going out of business. If you think [Paris] was the last attack before Election Day, you're obviously wrong," he said.

As for Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, "He's gone," Morris said. "In the six polls before the Oct. 10 debate, he averaged 5 percent, and in the three polls since the Oct. 10 debate, he averaged 5 percent."

That's flat-lining, he said, and "isn't good for a patient's future health."

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, showing poorly in his own state, should face the music and drop out, Morris said.
