Dick Morris to Newsmax TV: States Could Withhold Electors

Several states could withhold their electors, or instruct them to abstain, in the Electoral College, which would deny Joe Biden the 270 necessary to win and send the election of president to the House of Representatives, according to former Democrat strategist and White House adviser Dick Morris on Newsmax TV.

Morris cited the opinion in the 2000 Bush v. Gore Supreme Court decision, which ultimately resulted in George W. Bush's victory and reaffirmed the constitutional authority of the state legislatures in choosing their electors, Morris told Monday's "Greg Kelly Reports."

"The opinion made the point that at the beginning of the republic, the state legislatures routinely chose the electoral votes, and then that was delegated by them to the voters," Morris told host Greg Kelly. "And that at any point, they could take that power back and name them themselves.

"And the effort here is not to flip the votes from Biden to [President Donald] Trump, but to have these electors say what is honestly, complete true, which is we are the name electors who will say, 'Look, I'm the elector for Georgia, and I can't possibly tell who won this election. There are so many allegations of fraud and a tiny little margin, I'm going to abstain in the Electoral College, because I can't tell who's going to vote; I'm agnostic.'

"And that would deprive Biden of 270 votes and send the election to the House of Representatives," Morris continued.

"We're not hijacking it from democracy; we're saving it from the steal, and delegating the selection of the president to a democratically elected body, the new Congress, not the old one – the one that was just elected in the same election and let them make this decision."
