Ted Cruz might have lost the Indiana primary Tuesday — but "I don't think he should" quit the race for the Republican presidential nomination, political strategist Dick Morris told

"I don't think Cruz will pull out," he told host Steve Malzberg on "America Votes: 2016" in an interview. "I don't think he should."

"I am coming to a radically different view of Donald Trump than I've had before. To me, his precedent is Dwight D. Eisenhower.
"That he went from outside the political system — with tremendous success out there — and took the nomination away from the right wing of the Republican Party, which had been salivating over it.
"In 1952, they were pushing Robert Taft, a senator from Ohio, and now they're pushing Ted Cruz.
"Trump is not necessarily conservative any more than Eisenhower was," Morris added. "He's an American who is going to try to solve these problems in the name of America.
"In a sense, what Trump is doing is replacing ideology with nationalism — and it's a very interesting phenomenon."
