Jeb Bush's
endorsement Wednesday of Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary is significant because "it graphically illustrates that Cruz is the only alternative to Donald Trump," political strategist Dick Morris told
Newsmax TV.
"When you get guys like Lindsey Graham and [Mitt] Romney and Bush, who really hate Trump, endorsing Cruz, who they also don't like, it's clear that that's what they're saying," he told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "They're really saying that John Kasich is just in this for an ego trip.
"The other thing about it is that Bush is the best funded candidate in the world," he continued. "If his donors and potentially if his super PAC weigh in on behalf of Ted Cruz, that could be very significant."

However, primaries next month in New York and Pennsylvania will prove most crucial for the Texas senator, Morris said.
The Empire State, with 100 delegates, holds its primary on April 19. Pennsylvania voters go to the polls on April 26 — and the Keystone State has 70 delegates.
Morris called them "winner-take-most" states.
"If Trump decisively wins those two states, and he's far ahead in the polls, then Cruz really can pack it up," he told Malzberg. "Cruz needs a strategy — and he has four weeks to come up with it to break Trump's hold in New York and Pennsylvania and get at least a 2-to-1 split, not a total wipeout in those states.
"The real test is going to come in New York and in Pennsylvania."
