Donald Trump's response to the Orlando terror attack will help him gain support as he campaigns for president, political analyst Dick Morris told
Newsmax TV.
During an appearance on "The Hard Line" Wednesday, Morris told host Ed Berliner Trump was on point.
"I think Trump handled it perfectly and I think he will continue to do that," said Morris, the author of the new book,
"Armageddon: How Trump Can Beat Hillary."
"I think that he is going to gain ground enormously as people compare the way the two of them are handling it.
"Hillary [Clinton] is handling it with just the same level of political correctness and the bureaucratically high-bound response that stays within the limits of our current policy. Whereas Trump is really talking about transcending it and ghastly murder like this just makes clear how important Trump's position on this thing is."

Morris added that "the failure to be aggressive against Islamic terrorists and arrest them when you find them in your sights and the terror I think our policemen have about going overboard on that costing them their careers and their pensions is letting people like this monster in Orlando go free."
The Orlando terror attack early Sunday morning resulted in the death of 49 people at a gay nightclub. More than 50 others were wounded. The shooter was shot and killed by police.
The results of
a new Bloomberg poll released Wednesday showed Clinton has a 12-point lead over Trump in the presidential race, which Morris attributed to the "bounce" Clinton received after becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
