The surprise outcome of the Brexit vote is "an understandable reaction to the kinds of changes of globalization," political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Friday.

"We all make decisions on global economics based on profit and loss … and profit margins that totally ignore the needs of the average person," Morris told host Miranda Khan on "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview.

"The average person is looking at this and saying, 'The leaders I elect are interested in globalization and global markets, not me.'

"They want them to come back home and protect their interests," he said.

Morris is the co-author of the new book, "Armageddon: How Trump Can Beat Hillary."
