Ex-CIA Analyst Fleitz: 'This Is Obviously Radical Islamist Terrorism'

The San Bernardino shooters had too much weaponry and too many bombs for the mass killing not to be a terrorist attack, former CIA analyst Fred Fleitz tells Newsmax TV.

"This is obviously radical Islamist terrorism or radical jihadist terrorism," Fleitz, senior vice president at Center for Security Policy, said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik had likely planned a much larger attack, Fleitz believes, perhaps on the scale of the Paris attacks that killed 130 and injured more than 350 last month. The pair killed 14 and injured 21 in California on Wednesday.

"The attack on the social service center didn't make any sense with the number of weapons that this couple was putting together," Fleitz said. "We have to assume there's some direct tie to ISIS or al-Qaida."

Hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found on the couple after they were killed in a shootout with police, and a remote-controlled bomb was found at the scene of the shooting.

Fleitz said it is "very disturbing" that neighbors had been suspicious of activity at the suspect's home but failed to report it for fear of being labled anti-Muslim.

"U.S. officials have to make very clear that if you see something, you have to say something," he said. "If this neighbor had said something to the police, 14 people would be alive today. It's not racial profiling. It's defending our communities."
