Anti-Israel forces and terrorists on the Jewish state's border have never been reliable actors in the region, and giving them a state now will only reward Hamas for its Oct. 7 terrorist attack and embolden more terrorism in the future, Israeli officials said on Newsmax.
"At every given juncture, when the Palestinian leadership could have selected, could have decided, to create a state for their people, they chose war, violence, and terrorism," Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Fleur Hassan-Nahoum said Thursday on "National Report," responding to "Biden Doctrine" scheme to give Palestine a state.
"And I don't know what anybody thinks has changed here, when we've just had a massacre on Oct. 7."
Hamas leadership never wanted a two-state solution, or peace, Hassan-Nahoum said, noting the terrorist massacre and West Bank public opinion polling.
"They've said very clearly that they don't want a two-state solution because they want the destruction of Israel," Hassan-Nahoum said. "So if we were talking about making peace with Gandhi or Nelson Mandela, perhaps there would be a chance, but this is not the reality."
Outside forces, including President Joe Biden's State Department and pro-Palestinian activists, are clueless to the circumstances that have persisted for decades, she said.
"You know, it's funny, people are talking like this is our first rodeo: We've been trying this since the 1930s," she said. "In 1948, the U.N. offered two-state solutions, and the Palestinians said no and Israel said yes — and, of course, they launched a war to destroy Israel.
"In 1967, they launched another war to destroy Israel. They didn't succeed in 1973. And then in the '90s, we started a process exactly for this, for a two-state solution, which was offered to Arafat in 2000 and then again offered to Mahmoud Abbas in 2009."
Hassan-Nahoum said Palestinians want the destruction of Israel over a peaceful state.
"So we can talk in theories from the State Department, and we can look at the reality that there is not one Palestinian leader that has ever been prepared to make peace for one very simple reason, because the problem of this conflict is not that there is no Palestinian state," she said. "The problem of this conflict that there's a Jewish state, and ideologically they have never been able to accept this."
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains steadfast in achieving all three of his war on Hamas objectives, according to his spokeswoman Tal Heinrich: return all hostages, eradicate Hamas, and demilitarize and deradicalize Gaza.
Nothing less, she told Newsmax, appearing with Hassan-Nahoum.
"The prime minister says that for the time being, the near future, Israel will have to maintain some security presence on the ground in the Gaza Strip to guarantee that once we eliminate Hamas, we don't see a resurgence of terrorism — as well as in the area west of the Jordan River," Heinrich said.
"Keep in mind, going back to what Fleur said before, that every time Israel made territorial withdrawals, gave concessions, cut more slack to the Palestinians, more economic incentives, so to say, it was answered with more bloodshed, more terrorism, or missiles raining on our communities — and as of recently with the October 7 massacre."
There could be a time for a Palestinian state, but only after Israel has returned all hostages, eradicated Hamas, and fully secured, demilitarized, and deradicalized Gaza, Heinrich said.
"The formula that he has put forward is that down the road — after the right conditions are in place, which means that Gaza will be demilitarized and deradicalized — the Palestinians should have all of the powers to govern themselves; yet, none of the powers that could threaten Israel," Heinrich said.
"It is that simple."
