Herman Cain: Republicans Do Have Alternatives to Obamacare

The "second-biggest lie" about Obamacare is that Republicans do not have alternatives to the healthcare law, businessman and 2012 presidential candidate Herman Cain said Tuesday.

"This administration has systematically tried to silence, not only the media, particularly the mainstream media. But, you don't hear about these proposals.

"So, that is the second-biggest lie, that the Republicans don't have proposals. Yes, they do," Cain told Fox News' "America's Newsroom."

The biggest "lie" was when Obama told Americans they could keep their insurance plans if they liked them.

Cain explained that Republican alternatives date to 2009. Two, in particular, have extensive support in Congress, he said.

"There is one that's been introduced, called HR2300, by Rep. Tom Price, out of Georgia. You don't hear a lot about that. It has 40 cosponsors. And, the Republican Study Committee is working on another version that has over 100 cosponsors," Cain said.

If President Barack Obama is serious about working on solutions with Republicans regarding healthcare issues, Cain suggested he start over and join them to draft a plan more acceptable to Americans.

"If the president was serious about wanting to work with Republicans, stop digging. Start over, and come up with one the American people can embrace," he said.
