A vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election is really a vote for Barack Obama, according to Ken Blackwell, who has served as the mayor of Cincinnati and as Ohio secretary of state.
"One of the things that we are watching unfold in front of us is Hillary Clinton trying to re-energize the Obama electorate," Blackwell, a Republican and senior fellow at the Family Research Council, said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on

"If you elect her, you're in effect giving Barack Obama a third term because the same political forces to put him in office will put her in office and we'll see government getting bigger, economic growth diminishing, if existing at all.
"We'll see the labor participation rate continue to go up, and we will see the divisiveness of our nation and our population continue to intensify and expand."
And that could spell trouble for Americans at home and around the world," Blackwell believes.
"That puts us in a very weak position to protect ourselves in a world that's becoming increasingly more dangerous and with this president, increasingly more anti-American," he said.
Blackwell was disappointed by Friday's 5-4 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that recognizes same-sex marriage in all 50 states.
"The court went a long ways towards delegitimizing itself. This issue is far from settled," Blackwell told Steve Malzberg.
"We are witnessing the unraveling of the cultural foundation of this country that has made us an exceptional nation."
The solution? The upcoming presidential race, according to Blackwell.
"We have to make 2016 count for putting a check to this assault on American exceptionalism, our economic vitality, and our cultural integrity," he said.
