Republicans are ramping up efforts to fight censorship, as the House Oversight Committee is calling on Twitter executives to testify this week over the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., committee chairman, also expressed a willingness of Republicans to take action against the recent censorship of Newsmax by AT&T DirecTV.
Appearing Monday on Newsmax's John Bachman Now, Comer said, "What role did the federal government play in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story?
"So much of the evidence that would implicate the Biden family in these shady business dealings is contained in the hard drive, and to think the federal government, according to Elon Musk in the emails, the FBI, specifically, was telling top executives at Twitter that the Hunter Biden laptop story from the New York Post was Russian disinformation."
Comer added: "That's very concerning. The FBI had the laptop all along, and they knew it wasn't Russian disinformation, and they knew it had damaging influence about Joe Biden. Every American should be concerned about what role the government plays in censoring speech, especially conservative speech."

Comer also commented on the censorship of Newsmax by DirecTV.
"The Democrats, they're only concerned about speech when it pertains to them and their liberal ideology," said Comer. "I've spoken with executives at DirecTV ... I'm encouraging this to get worked out over the next few days. If that doesn't happen, then I'm pretty confident that they'll be brought before Congress.
"I don't think any Republican wants to get involved in that, but there's a pattern here ... and we all know those of us that represent Republican districts that Newsmax has a huge viewership in our congressional district. We're hearing from our constituents that had DirecTV.
"We need to see this get resolved and I'm publicly encouraging, and I've done it privately as well, that the executives at DirecTV to sit back down and try to get this worked out before Congress has to get involved."
