Oregon Protester's Widow: My Husband Was a 'Good Man,' Not a 'Terrorist'

LaVoy Finicum, the Arizona rancher who was shot to death when officials set up a roadblock in Oregon, was a good man and not the "terrorist" he has been portrayed as in the media, his wife, Jeanette Finicum, tells Newsmax TV.

"I am disappointed in the way they portrayed such a good man. He doesn't fit their narrative," Finicum said Wednesday on "Dennis Michael Lynch: Unfiltered."

She said she supports her husband "100 percent" when asked if she wishes he had never gone to Oregon to protest the imprisonment of a father and son charged with setting fires on federal land.

"Our world is completely different," Finicum said, saying that only she and a daughter who is a high school senior remain on the family's ranch. She said she has yet to decide whether she will pay fines the federal government says they owe, but says she can't see herself doing something her husband didn't do.

"There's so much that he did and took care of, and there's so much of him that is missing in all of us now," she said. "So much that we will not have the opportunity to have with him, our grandchildren will not know him and it's been an overwhelming sorrow. But I have the gift that God has given me, the surety of knowing that I will be with him again someday and I'm grateful for my belief in God and in the plan of happiness and that we will have eternity together."

She said she believes her husband ran from his vehicle in an attempt to diffuse the situation and likely saved the lives of the others in his SUV. He was not reaching for a gun as law enforcement claims, she said.

"I believe that he was killed, and I believe that it wasn't necessary for him to be killed," she said. "I believe that he had his hands up, he was surrendering."
