The head of the Environmental Protection Agency — embroiled in a Washington, D.C. housing and influence scandal — should be shown the door by President Donald Trump, conservative political strategist Jeffrey Lord told Newsmax TV on Monday.
"I'm not so sure that he can survive this, that's what my political sense of this is," Lord, a former associate political director in Reagan administration, said about Scott Pruitt controversy in an interview with Miranda Khan on Monday's "America Talks Live."

"And I think frankly if somebody becomes a liability at some point, replace them with somebody who's got the same ideology but who doesn't have the problem.
"The president is probably better served to get him out and get somebody in there with the same agenda and keep moving."
Pruitt paid just $50 a night to stay in a luxury Capitol Hill condominium linked to a prominent Washington lobbyist whose firm represents a roster of fossil fuel companies, ABC News reported last week.
Lord said he believes the condo mess is being used an excuse to go after Pruitt by those who want him ousted because of his EPA policies.
"If they want to get somebody out for ideological reasons, they find other reasons," Lord told Khan.
Lord, a contributing editor to The American Spectator is the author of "What America Needs: The Case for Trump," published by Regnery.
