Society has "dumbed down" its dialogue to the point of embarrassment and now we just check off boxes to meet criteria even if they aren't true, says Joe Concha.
Former Spokane NAACP chapter president
Rachel Dolezal isn't black as she claims, the Mediaite columnist and host of
Newsmax TV's "The Daily Wrap" said Tuesday on "The Hard Line."
"This woman lied about her skin color and profited from it because she taught a class on African-American studies," Concha said. "And the fact that we're giving her attention, this is just an extension of the [Bruce] Jenner controversy in terms of 'Is it a woman, is it a man? Is it white, is it black?' … She lied, she got caught. Now it's a media sensation. Go figure."

Everyone wants to check off a box now, Concha said, including in the presidential race where people don't want to elect Hillary Clinton because of any accomplishments, but simply because she's a woman. They want to check off the Latino box for her vice presidential candidate, he said.
On the GOP side, if Sen. Marco Rubio doesn't get the nomination, he has to be the running mate, Concha said, "because that checks off a box."
Now the boxes have subsets, he said. "It's no longer that you're black, but you're transblack."
Someday we'll look back and not be able to believe "we focused on this crap" instead of what really matters, Concha said.
