Joe diGenova to Newsmax TV: Mueller Probe Leads Back to DOJ

Former U.S. attorney Joe diGenova laid out his case during an interview on Newsmax TV that the Russia investigation will lead nowhere except back to corruption at the Department of Justice.

DiGenova was on "The Howie Carr Show" on Wednesday and explained how numerous government officials have their hands in the start of the Russia probe — which began in 2016 in the form of spying on certain members of the Trump campaign.

He was then asked what happens next, as special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation is expected to wrap up relatively soon.

"God help the people in the Justice Department if [Sen.] Lindsey Graham takes over this investigation, which he will," diGenova said. "If the Republicans lose the House, everything will be shifted to Lindsey Graham."

Regarding Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing Mueller's investigation because of Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal, diGenova said his time at the DOJ will likely come to an end after the Russia probe is finished.

President Donald Trump, diGenova said, is "keeping [Rosenstein] around until Mueller's done because he knows that Rosenstein controls Mueller and will control the report that Mueller issues."

"Bob made a big mistake by making this investigation last too long," diGenova added. "He knew almost from the beginning that there was no evidence whatsoever of Russian collusion."
